About Sue
For most of my life I’ve been a professional Small Business Management Consultant. I have worked with over 100 companies. I’ve written books and many articles on small business management and have a unique holistic approach rather than the mainstream segmented style often found elsewhere.
I began my professional career with a 13-year stint as an internal consultant and manufacturing analyst for a Fortune 500 company. I was mentored by a manufacturing genius who understood the value of employees, and the importance of measurements, teamwork, and communication to run a profitable business.
During those 13 years, I specialized in identifying the root causes of problems within the business—personnel, processes, systems, etc.—and implementing system-wide, palatable solutions that offered more profits, quality, and teamwork with less effort, fewer managers, and lower turnover. My hands-on approach covered everything from strategy formulation to detailed implementation of a wide variety of solutions.
I owned a service business for nine years while writing on business management and behavior.
Then I changed my focus to helping small business owners become more resilient and more profitable. After living within several businesses full-time, I realized that most of the “help” that is offered by other consultants is confined to Marketing and Human Resources, but rarely have I seen the kind of internal, systemic help that most business owners are desperate for. So, that’s where I have focused my energies.
As a Certified Management Consultant, I’ve spent the time necessary within each small business to actually effect change. In my career, I’ve worked tirelessly to understand their problems and desires and to implement solutions that work.
My passion for helping small business owners learn what they need to know to experience the success they deserve is apparent in that my “retirement” has consisted of working with folks like you, on the internet, to help you have more time, energy, and money, and recoup far beyond what you’ve already invested in your business.
